Av. E. Mounier 83 Box 11

The aims of the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) are to conduct, develop, coordinate, and stimulate laboratory and clinical research in Europe to improve the management of cancer and related problems by increasing survival but also patients' quality of life. Extensive and comprehensive research in this wide field is often beyond the means of individual European laboratories and hospitals, and can best be accomplished through the multidisciplinary, multinational efforts of basic research scientists and clinicians from the European continent. The ultimate goal of the EORTC is to improve the standard of cancer treatment in Europe, through the development of new drugs and other innovative approaches, and to test more effective therapeutic strategies, using drugs which are already commercially available, or surgery and radiotherapy.

The European Association for Cancer Research (EACR) has always had one guiding aim ‘The advancement of cancer research’. In pursuing this aim, the Association provides services to members, presents educational, training and scientific meeting opportunities, and facilitates communication and collaboration between the cancer researchers who make up its membership. It also sets out to raise the profile of cancer research and cancer researchers in Europe and the need for sustained political and economic support

With almost 8,000 members, the EACR is Europe’s largest member society for cancer research. The Association enjoys particularly strong links with other European cancer societies and is a founder member of the European Cancer Organisation (ECCO).
