About Phytomedicine

Phytomedicine publishes research results on phytotherapy (clinical trials), phytopharmacology, pharmacognosy, standardization and phytotoxicology, obtained with plant extracts as well as isolated compounds from these extracts and phytopharmaceuticals. This practical reference resource includes information useful not only to researchers in phytopharmacology, phytotherapy and phytotoxicology, but to drug regulatory authorities as well. Phytomedicine consists of:
• case reports
• pharmacological and molecularbiological studies
• screening studies (only when focused on plant extracts or isolated compounds with extraordinary activities)
• chemical structure — activity studies
• chemical analysis and standardization of plant drugs and phytopharmaceuticals
• invited reviews

Society Information

ESCOP, European Scientific Cooperative on Phytomedicine is an umbrella organisation representing national phytotherapy associations across Europe, especially in their discussions with European medicine regulators. Since 1996 it has been a company limited by guarantee in the United Kingdom. ESCOP aims to advance the scientific status of phytomedicines and to assist with the harmonisation of their regulatory status at the European level.


Phytomedicine is published by Elsevier for the ESCOP, European Scientific Cooperative on Phytomedicine.
