The Journal of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh merged with the Journal of the Irish Colleges of Physicians and Surgeons to form The Surgeon, which launched in February 2003. Since that date the journal has established itself as one of the leading multidisciplinary surgical titles, both in print and online.
The Surgeon is published for the Members and Fellows of both Colleges and for the worldwide surgical community. It publishes articles from all subspecialties of surgery, and related areas, and aims to educate, entertain, give insight into new surgical techniques and technology, and provide a forum for debate and discussion. The Surgeon has an eminent editorial advisory board under the leadership of the editor-in-chief, Professor Austin Leahy, Dublin, Ireland.
